The Norm {I'm A Minority}

I thought I was the norm
Then I was informed
I don't fit the status quo
I'm looked at as a weirdo
I save sex for marriage
I never show cleavage
I don't smoke cigars
Or dance at bars
I don't do drugs
Or hang out with thugs
I don't drink
I like to think
I'm doing the right thing
Or at least doing something
I've never been on a date
Until college I'll wait
To hold a boy's hand
For my faith I'll stand
I won't even share a kiss
I'm waiting for engagement for this
I don't fit into a Sorority
I'm A Minority.

Future

Something God has really laid on my heart lately is worry -- specifically about the future. I find myself lapsing into obsessive day dreams about graduating, college, and what else God has in store for my life. While these things can be good at times, it's definitely not okay for me to be mulling over them with such fervor so that they take away valuable God-time. Instead of living in the moment, I'm living in future moments that haven't happened yet. I'm sure I've missed many God-given opportunites because of this! Not okay. So instead of living in the past or future, live in the present. Sure God has great plans for the future, but what's really important to focus on is what He has going on right now. Otherwise, you could miss something really important. So enjoy life! God knows His plans for our lives, and all we can do is trust Him.

Proverbs 12:25 --
An anxious heart weighs a man down,
but a kind word cheers him up.

Matthew 6:27 --
Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

Luke 21:34-35 --
Watch out! Don’t let your hearts be dulled by carousing and drunkenness, and by the worries of this life. Don’t let that day catch you unaware, like a trap. For that day will come upon everyone living on the earth.

1 Peter 5:7 --
Cast all your anxiety on Him, for He cares for you.

Jeremiah 29:11-13 --
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

Hero

Who's your Hero?
Do they wear a skin tight suit
and stop thieves from stealing the loot
Do they have super powers
or able to turn time back a couple hours
Can they run, jump, and fly
and no matter what, they cannot die
Are they macho and strong
and know the difference between right and wrong
That's the type of hero in a movie
showing up on the screen of your tv
My hero's a little different
He'll be there during Judgement
On a cross He died
Someday He'll come back for his Bride
His powers are for healing
Not stopping someone from stealing
On the third day he rose
Satan he does oppose
Death he defied
Leaving God's Word as our guide

Society Obsessions (Part Two)

Sin is an obsession.
It's a pool that only deepens.
Society is attached.
It's love for sex, drugs, and alcohol is unmatched.
Once you're in, Satan grabs ahold.
Into yourself you will fold.
You won't realize at first.
Oblivion is a curse.

Society & Me

I'm a rose in the midst of thorns
All of my beliefs the world scorns
Laughed at to my face
To society I'm a disgrace
I'm an outcast of the greatest kind
Their games & ways I've declined
Hardly anyone living their lives for Him
to the world, they give in
For an earthly life they live
Scorning the one who's life did give
Through Him they might have life to the fullest
Instead they look at me in disgust
not understanding why I don't give in
and live a life full of worldy sin
But I hold my head up and smile
I'll be leaving here in a while
So I'll stand up strong
With Christ, I belong
Torn down each and every day
Things just don't seem to go my way
But I'm as happy as can be
For in Christ I've been set free
No more slavery to sin
My battle, He did win.
